Heart disease, diabetes, cancer, respiratory disease and stroke kill nearly 40 million people each year. One out of every three Americans is now considered to be obese. Between 15 – 25% of children (depending on ethnicity) are overweight – triple the rate of 30 years ago!
But there is hope! It doesn’t have to be like this! Every one of the above problems is largely preventable by diet and lifestyle. Unfortunately, in this world of abundant and instant information, it can be very confusing as to what is really wholesome and what isn’t. To make it more complicated, so many of the very things being promoted as healthy are actually causing disease. People need to be educated! This is my passion – educating people so that they can live healthy, vibrant and productive lives.
I received my health coach training and certification through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. William Sears, MD, one of America’s most trusted physicians, began his own journey in nutrition when he was diagnosed with cancer in 1997. He is now a nutrition expert, the author of over forty books and has practiced medicine for four decades and is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California Irvine, School of Medicine.
